SAINTS BRING THE BROOM: LBWCC sweeps Enterprise State on the road

The LBWCC Saints’ baseball team swept Enterprise State on the Thursday in Enterprise.

 

GAME ONE

LBWCC 9,

ENTERPRISE 8

In the first game of the day, the Saints battled back for a 9-8 victory.

Trevor Shelton came through with a two-out single to get things going for the Saints in the top of the first inning.

Shelton moved up to second base off of a passed ball.

Reid Whitaker then produced the first run of the game when he drove in Shelton with a single to right field.

Enterprise got a walk, single, tripled and a ground out to take a 3-1 lead after one inning of play.

Enterprise picked up two more runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 5-1 lead.

Shelton doubled to start the top of the fourth inning and moved to second off a walk to Whitaker.

Bryson Gandy then reached off of an error to load the bases.

The Saints then scored a pair of runs off of an error.

Logan Thompson followed with a sacrifice fly to bring the score to 5-4.

In the top of the fifth inning, Shelton drove in Jesse Hall and then Whitaker drove in a runner to tie the game 6-6.

The Saints took the lead in the top of the seventh inning when Gandy crushed a two-run home run to center field to put LBWCC up 8-6.

Thompson followed with a solo home run to move the score to 9-6.

Enterprise added a pair of runs in the bottom of the final inning, but LBWCC was able to hold on for the win.

Shelton led the Saints at the plate going 4-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI.

Gandy finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Whitaker and Thompson drove in two runs each.

Cody Herring earned the win for the Saints.

 

GAME TWO

LBWCC 14,

ENTERPRISE 9

In the final game of the day, the Saints used a huge sixth inning to finish off the sweep with a 14-9 win.

LBWCC took an early lead when Hall got things started with a double and then scored off of a one-out single from Shelton.

Enterprise grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first inning with a three-run home run.

Jarius Colley doubled to start to the top of the second inning and advanced to third of a fly ball from Thompson.

Parker Griffin followed with a single to push Gandy across the plate.

In the top of the third inning, scored four runs off of errors and sacrifice flies to take a 6-3 lead.

Enterprise came right back in the bottom of the third inning and went back up 7-6.

Enterprise stretched their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning to 9-6.

The Saints cut into the lead in the top of the fifth when Hall launched a two-run home run.

In the top of the sixth inning, Shelton doubled to get things going.

Whitaker then reached off of an error and Gandy put the Saints up for good with a three-run home run.

Griffin drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

The Saints continued to take advantage of mistakes from Enterprise as an error allowed another run to score to put LBWCC up 13-9.

Shelton followed with a single to push across Hall for the final run of the day.

Gandy led the Saints at the plate going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Shelton finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBIs and one run scored.

Brandon Moye picked up the win on the mound.
