ANDALUSIA SOARS TO WIN: Bulldogs use timely hits to down Highland Home

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs used strong pitching and timely hitting to knock off the Highland Home Lady Flying Squadron 4-1 on Tuesday night in Andalusia.
Sydney Ray got the start in the pitcher’s circle for the Lady Bulldogs and quickly struck out the first batter of the game.
Ray breezed through the opening frame.
Andalusia put bats on the ball in the bottom of the first inning, but couldn’t get anyone to reach safely.
Ray’s work in the circle remained steady as she sat Flying Squadron down in order in the top of the second inning.
In the top of the third inning, Ray picked up two more strikeouts as she worked her third-straight perfect inning.
Andalusia got a two-out single from M.K. Salter in the bottom of the third inning and the she moved to second on a steal.
Ray followed with a single to give the Lady Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
A few pitches later, Ray came around to score off of an error to put Andalusia up 2-0.
In the circle for the Lady Bulldogs, Ray stayed strong as she recorded her fourth perfect frame.
In the top of the fifth inning, Highland Home got its first hit of the game when the leadoff batter sent a ball over the fence in left field.
Ray didn’t let it faze her as she worked around the leadoff home run and kept the Lady Bulldogs up 2-1.
Ray picked up another pair of strikeouts in the top of the sixth inning.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Ray doubled to start the frame and then came around to score on a hit from Chloe Mikel.
Mikel moved around to second on a passed ball and then to third on another passed ball.
She remained at third until Maddie O’Connor drove her in with a two-out single to give the Lady Bulldogs a 4-1 lead.
In the top of the seventh inning, Ray faced off with the batter that homered earlier in the game. This time Ray got her to ground out for the first out.
Ray finished off the game with a pair of strikeouts to give the Lady Bulldogs a 4-1 victory.
