Earthquake recorded in Alabama

The National Earthquake Information Center (NEIC) reported a 3.1 magnitude earthquake early Monday afternoon near Flomaton.
According to the NEIC, the quake struck at 1:36 p.m. local time, and was 5.0 km deep. It was recorded three miles east-northeast of Flomaton in Escambia County.
The quake was felt as far away as Brewton, about 20 miles away from Flomaton, and across the Florida line.
The quake came on the heels of a similar event that occurred in nearby Century, Fla., which was recorded as a 2.7 magnitude quake.
