Cookies delivered all over town
Members of First Baptist Church baked literally hundreds of cookies, spent Wednesday afternoon packaging them in decorative cellophane bags, and delivering them on Thursday.
The cookies were delivered with a message that read, “First loves Andalusia,” and that’s exactly what the effort was designed to show, FBC pastor Kevin Wilburn said.
“We delivered somewhere around 500 bags of cookies, and we delivered to around 100 businesses,” Wilburn said.
“We thought it was a great way to say to our local businesses, ‘We love you, we’re glad you’re here, and we hope this makes your day brighter.’ “
Wilburn said the reaction was just what the church had hoped for – happiness.
“We had people say, ‘Oh, I haven’t gotten a Valentine in years,’ “ he said. “We are glad to be a part of the community and we’re looking for little ways to say ‘We love you.’ It got a lot of people involved, and that was good, too.“
The church has a second community outreach planned for Thurs., Feb. 28, when it will host a community fraud summit in partnership with the Alabama Securities Commission. The event is set for 9:30 a.m. until noon.
