The Opp Bobcats battled back after trailing for most of the game to pick up a 63-61 victory over Slocomb in the Class 3A, Area 3 tournament on Friday night in Slocomb.

Slocomb came out of the gate strong and hit six 3-pointers in the first period.

Bryan Matthews had a pair of 3-pointers for the Bobcats, but Opp trailed 22-15 at the end of the first period.

Opp battled back in the second period with another pair of 3-pointers from B. Matthews.

Erik Matthews tacked on six points and Caleb Hinton had seven points as the Bobcats went up 37-34 at halftime.

Scoring was at a premium in the third period with Bobcats only able to pick up five points.

Slocomb came up with 11 points in the third period as they took a 45-42 lead into the fourth period.

The game stayed tight, but B. Matthews was able to pick up seven points to help the Bobcats pick up the win.

Opp will play Houston Academy at 7 p.m., on Tuesday in Opp.
