BALDWIN NETS TOP HONORS: PHS superstar named 1A Player of the Year

Pleasant Home superstar River Baldwin garnered top honors as she was recently name Class 1A Volleyball Player of the Year.
The honor comes a few months after Baldwin helped lead the Lady Eagles to the school’s first-ever state championship in any varsity girls’ sport.
During the year, Baldwin picked up 589 kills, 418 digs and 148 blocks.
Also joining Baldwin on the All-State team is her teammate, Sarah Kathryn Guilford.
Guilford played a huge role in helping the Lady Eagles win the state championship.
Here is the rest of the Class 1A All-State volleyball team: Kyndal Barksdale (Athens Bible School), Mackenzie Davis (Athens Bible School), Lexie Dishner (Phillips), Katelyne Garrie (Decatur Heritage) and Audra Putman (Lindsay Lane).
Baldwin was also one of 25 players in all seven classifications to be named to the Super All-State team.
On the Super All-State team, Baldwin was the only player selected below Class 3A. Most of the Super All-State team consists of players in Class 5A and above.
Baldwin is familiar with winning POY honors after being named the Class 1A Basketball POY the past two seasons.
Basketball is where is her future remains as she is one of the top high school prospects in the United States.
According to ESPN, Baldwin is the No. 27th ranked prospect for the Class of 2019, the No. five ranked prospect at her position and the No. 2 prospect in the state of Alabama.
She is committed to Florida State.
