The recent dip in temperatures should put Covington County residents in the mood for sausage dogs, funnel cakes, hot chocolate, all just in time for the 56th annual Kiwanis Covington County Fair, which opens Monday afternoon.

Most of the equipment is in place, and Kiwanians will spend the day checking exhibits in today and tomorrow.

On Monday, a ribbon cutting is set for 1:30 p.m., and the fair officially opens at 3, running through next Sunday.

Monday night, the club will hold its annual fair pageants, which begin at 6:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, the fair will open for school-age persons with special needs. The free event is sponsored by Andalusia Health. Pre-registration is required.
