The Andalusia High School band, A Sound Tradition, earned superior ratings at competitions this past weekend in both Rehobeth and Daleville.
The first competition the band performed at 2:40 p.m., in 100 degree temperatures and still received superior ratings.
“We had a great show at the Daleville competition,” Band director Bennie Shellhouse said. “It was just the heat definitely played a factor in how we performed.”
Shellhouse said that the second competition at 8:20 p.m. in Rehobeth was a much better performance.
“The night performance at in Rehobeth was much better,” Shellhouse said. “We got to perform in front of a group of about 3,500 people, so it was a great opportunity for the students.”
The band will host the A-Town Invitiational Band Competition this Saturday, travel to Troy for a competition next weekend and then compete in Opp High School’s Little Big Horn Competition the weekend after that.
