The Straughn Tigers came up just short in a 10-8 loss to Daleville on Friday night in Daleville.
“We made a stop on defense late and gave ourselves a chance at the end,” Straughn coach Jarrod Wooten said. “We got the ball back with about two minutes left and had a couple of shots, but just couldn’t get it in the end zone.”
Early in the game, Straughn made a stop on defense close to the Daleville end zone, but then a sack on Straughn’s drive was in the end zone for a safety.
Straughn later got a safety of their own.
Both teams got in the end zone, but Daleville was able to score on their two-point conversion to pick up the win.
“Our effort was tremendous,” Wooten said. “We played with more intensity and with a more physical mindset. Defense played a great game, but we are our own worst enemy on offense. We’ve got to get out of that.”
