BATTLE DOWN TO THE WIRE: Andy slips past Straughn in volleyball action

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs picked up a big 3-1 victory over the Straughn Lady Tigers on Tuesday night in Straughn.
GAME ONE
STRAUGHN 25,
ANDALUSIA 22
In the opening game of the night, things went back-and-forth before the Lady Tigers pushed forward with a 25-22 victory.
Kaitlyn James put the Lady Tigers up 17-13 with a blistering ace.
Andalusia made a late charge with several kills from Anna Brady, but the Lady Tigers held on for a 25-22 win.
GAME TWO
ANDALUSIA 25, STRAUGHN 12
Andalusia came out strong in the second game and held off the Lady Tigers for a 25-12 victory.
The Lady Bulldogs opened the set with an 8-0 run and pushed their lead up 13-2 at one point.
Straughn battled back into the game, but Andalusia pulled away for a 25-12 victory.
GAME THREE
ANDALUSIA 25, STRAUGHN 16
The Lady Bulldogs continued to play solid in the third game and came away with a 25-16 victory.
A thunderous kill from Brady helped the Lady Bulldogs open up a 4-0 run to start the game, but Allie Kelley and the Lady Tigers came charging back and tied the game 4-4.
The Lady Bulldogs then went on another run and pushed their lead up to 11-6.
Both teams continued to play hard, but it was the Lady Bulldogs who came away with a 25-16 victory.
GAME FOUR
ANDALUSIA 25, STRAUGHN 17
In the final game of the night, the Lady Bulldogs capped off the match with a 25-17 victory.
Brady and Kelley racked up kills for their teams as the game stayed close.
Andalusia pulled slightly away, but Straughn battled back late.
The Lady Bulldogs were able to hold on for the 25-17 victory.
“We have to be more consistent,” Straughn head coach Daniel Rodger said. “That’s my job and we will get better, but all credit goes to Andalusia.”
Lady Bulldogs head coach Angie Grimes was pleased with the effort she saw.
“We came together as a team, finally,” Grimes said. “We played well, but we still have some things to work on. We are getting ready for area games on Thursday. They are big games for us.”
