The Straughn Tigers didn’t get what they wanted for homecoming as they fell to Houston Academy 31-7 on Friday in Straughn.
On Monday of this week, the Tigers made a coaching change as John Higgins is out and Jarrod Wooten and Michael Smith take over for the remainder of the season.
“Considering the adversity that we have faced this week, I was proud of the way the kids handled it,” Wooten said following the game. “They handled the situation about as well as you can handle it.”
Wooten said that the Tigers worked on different things this week at practice.
“We are trying to do a few more things this week,” Wooten said. “We worked on some new stuff and made some tweaks to stuff. The mistakes we are seeing are all correctable mistakes. There were some good things tonight and the kids did a good job adjusting and preparing for this game. We have the opportunity to continue to get better as the season goes along. We just have a few things that we have to iron out.”
The Tigers scored when Adam Anderson connected with Chandler Mitchell on a 20-yard touchdown.
