The Straughn Tigers (1-3, 1-1) put up a strong fight, but fell 21-6 to Slocomb on Friday night in Straughn.
“We had at least four turnovers and two of them were in the red zone,” Straughn head coach John Higgins said. “We moved the ball well, but just would then turn it over. We can’t afford that.”
Despite the loss, Higgins said he was pleased with the effort.
“The boys played really hard,” Higgins said. “We have to continue to play hard and play smart. I was proud of the boys and the way the never quit. That team has the best player in this region and he was able to break a couple of big plays on us.”
Straughn added a score late when Adam Anderson connected with Logan Cobb in the end zone.
Next week, Straughn will face Houston Academy at home.
