2 more arrested for suspicious package at hospital

Help sought finding 4th suspect
The Andalusia Police Department has charged two more people in connection with the suspicious package left at Andalusia Health Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018.
The Andalusia Police Department and Andalusia Fire Department responded to Andalusia Health late Saturday night after a suspicious package was found at the ambulance entrance to the emergency room. The Dothan Bomb Squad was called and after an X-ray of the package, determined it contained a cell phone, charging cord, tobacco and illegal narcotics.
On Monday, the APD charged Donavan Spenard with promoting prison contraband second degree and distribution of controlled substance.
On Thursday, the APD charged Donovan Spendard’s son, Joseph T. Spenard, 25, and Joseph P. Cender, 40, of Andalusia with with conspiracy to promote prison contraband, a Class B misdemeanor. Investigator Cody Warren said both men are inmates at the Covington County Jail and committed the crime from inside the jail. Bond is set at $3,000 each.
Warren said fourth suspect involved in this case is being sought. Investigators have obtained warrants for the arrest of John Michael Russ, 24, of Andalusia. The charge is one count of second degree promoting prison contraband and distribution of a controlled substance.
