Wreck claims life of coach, 1st year teacher

The son of Andalusia First United Methodist Church’s minister of education died in a car accident Sunday morning.
Curtis Robertson Glaize, 24, died when the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. Glaize, who was not wearing his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred on Ala. 77 near the 5-mile marker, approximately five miles north of Lafayette.
He was the son of the Rev. Alecia Curtis Glaize, minister of education at FUMC Andalusia, and the Rev. Ed Glaize, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Fairhope. He also is survived by his sister, Anna Grace Glaize. He had just become engaged to Loren Padgett on September 1.
He was a first-year English teacher at Benjamin Russell High School and was also an offensive line coach.
Glaize graduated from Auburn University, and completed high school at T.R. Miller in Brewton.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Brewton. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until just before the service.
