The Andalusia Police Department is planning two special events in October.

On Tuesday, October 2, it will host its annual National Night Out event. The community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

As in the past, the free event is set for Opp Avenue, and will begin at 6 p.m. Activities include inflatables, raffles, face painting, a talent contest, and an opportunity to meet first responders.

On Saturday, October 27, the department will partner with the Covington County Incident Response Team to host a Festival of the Five-O’s at the Dwight Mikel Sports Complex on Hwy 55/South Bypass in Andalusia.

The warrior-type challenge offers teams an opportunity to participate in an obstacle course and/or a flag football tournament. For registration information, email: registration@andalusiapolice.com .
