86-year-old Opp man dies after vehicle strikes tractor

An 86-year-old old Opp man died Monday as the result of injuries sustained when the plow of a tractor he was driving was struck by a vehicle. The wreck closed Opine Road for approximately five hours.
The Opp Police Department was called to a two-vehicle collision on the bridge of Opine Road at approximately 1:05 Monday afternoon.
Mack Hudgens, 86, of Opp, was driving an International 444 tractor eastbound on Opine road. An eastbound 2015 Nissan Rogue being operated by Mychal Deandre Bonham, 29, of Andalusia, struck the plow behind the tractor.
Both victims were transported by ambulance to Mizell Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Hudgens later died as a result of his injuries.
Opine Road was closed between Pittman Road and Covington County Road 85 from the time of the accident until officers reopened it around 6 p.m.
The accident investigation is still active and is being conducted by OPD and troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, according to a release from the OPD.
