JIMMY L. HARRELSON

Mr. Jimmy L. Harrelson, age 73, of Red Level, passed away Thu., Aug. 16, 2018, at his home. Jimmy was a member of Pigeon Creek Baptist Church, was active in the choir, taught Sunday school, and also participated in the brotherhood meetings. Church was his favorite place to be. He loved fishing and music.

Jimmy was formerly a teacher with a bachelor’s degree in education who taught locally at both Straughn and Red Level schools as well as other schools in Alabama, Florida and Georgia.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Trudie Harrelson of Red Level; his children: Sherry D. (Larry) Widner of Colquitt, Ga., Tiffany (John) Drain of Honolulu, HI, and Danielle (Lee) Jackson of Opp; his stepchildren, Jimmie (Greg) Latch of Tampa, Fla., Terry (Rhonda) Ferrell of Ocean Springs, MS, Ricky (Karen) Ferrell of Auburn, Ala., Johnny (Brandi) Ferrell of Tupelo, Miss., and Bobbie (William Abshire) Ferrell of Lakeland, Fla.; 29 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Mike Harrelson of Red Level, Ray (Angie) Harrelson of Selma, and Mike Harrelson, Jr.; and his three sisters, Barbara (Ed) Schneider of Selma, Linda Barr of Andalusia, and Betty (Perry) Jones of Red Level.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rena Hester, his parents, Garland and Voncile Harrelson, and his brother, Jerry Harrelson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Sat., Aug. 18, 2018, at Pigeon Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Zack Campbell and Rev. Keith Parker officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at Pigeon Creek Baptist Church. Keahey Funeral Home of Andalusia has been entrusted with arrangements.
