Mediacom’s sponsorship of Andalusia High School’s new video board scoreboard limits advertising comes with a few stipulations, board of education members learned Monday night.
Board attorney Bill Alverson reviewed the terms of the company’s sponsorship agreement for the scoreboard, which was expected to cost $175,000. The video board, which will be 29 feet in the air, is 24 feet wide and 12 feet tall. It is expected to be installed today (Tuesday) or Wednesday.
Previously, the board thought sponsorship panels could be sold on either side of the board. However, the sponsorship agreement prohibits that. It also requires the broadcast of four 30-second videos at each game. Video advertisements can be sold to other sponsors, expect those Mediacom would consider competition.
In other business, the board addressed resignations and hirings.
The board accepted the resignations of:
- Kennedy Thompson, special education paraprofessional.
- Evan Soles, AHS career prep
- Savannah Hutton, AES cafeteria worker.
The board also:
- granted a leave of absence to Amy Norris, AES special education paraprofessional, from Nov. 30 to Dec. 7.
- Moved Bill Clark from transportation maintenance/mechanic and bus driver to maintenance worker.
- Hired Jerry Merrill as transportation maintenance/mechanic and bus driver (as needed).
- Hired Lakyn Lee as AHS special ed paraprofessional.
- Hired Luaren Maynor as AHS career prep teacher.
- Hired Angelina Atchison as AES cafeteria worker.
