Plenty ways to celebrate Fourth of July this week

There are several area events planned for Wednesday to celebrate Independence Day.
• The third annual Fourth of July Parade will begin at 10 a.m. in downtown Andalusia. Participants of the parade will march from the First Baptist Church to the Veteran’s Memorial. The event is sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
• City of Andalusia Fireworks show will be held at the Kiwanis Fairgrounds. Gates open at 6 p.m. Entertainment will be at 6:30 p.m. with the Ric McNaughton Band. The fireworks show will start at 8:30 p.m. Free watermelon slices will be available while supplies last and free rides on the kids slide. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Concessions will be sold.
• City of Opp will host its annual Fourth of July Celebration at the Frank Jackson State Park beginning at 10 a.m. There will be free admission, free entertainment and free watermelon. There will also be food vendors. The firework show starts at dark.
• Elba’s “Let Freedom Ring,” event will be held on the square in downtown Elba starting at 6:30 p.m. There will be a Patriotic Walking/ Golf Cart Parade that will begin at 6:30 p.m. The fireworks show starts at 9 p.m.
