Although it’s only been under construction for a few weeks, Buck Creek Baptist’s new location has seen improvement.
“What we’re working on now is the walls on the inside. We’ve already got the air conditioning units inside,” Tyler Ingram, the pastor, said.
Ingram said that the framing is about to be wrapped up.
“We have several crews coming from all over within the next couple of weeks to work on the insulation and the sheetrock.”
Carpenters for Christ brought volunteers from Alabama, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Georgia to help the church complete its new facility. Members of the group donate their time and talents, and the church purchases materials needed for construction. Local volunteers also have been helping with the construction.
For the most part, the building is insulated but Ingram said they’re planning to add more along the walls along with soundproofing.
With most of the walls finished, Ingram had a specific layout for everything, down to a shower room and kitchen.
“In case we ever need to become an emergency shelter, we’ll have showers,” Ingram said.
On Thursday morning, the steeple was set.
“It’s definitely exciting because we’re that much closer to being finished,” he said.
