Shirley Marie Wells

Miss Shirley Marie Wells went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 10, 2018. She had been a resident of Andalusia Manor for several years.

Shirley was a member of West Highland Baptist Church. She was known as the babysitter for many prominent families in Andalusia. She was a graduate of Straughn High School, a member of Alabama Woman’s Missionary Union and a friend to all she met. Those of you who knew her knew that she loved to hug and be hugged.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday evening.

She is survived by her brother, Jimmy Wells of Dothan; step-sister, Judy Terry Brewer; nephews, Jedidiah “Di” Wells and James Taylor Jones; great-nephew, Easton Ford Wells; aunts, Retha Watkins of Heath, Louise (Julian) Johnson of Pensacola, and Margaret and Henry Kilpatrick of Andalusia; uncle, Dewey Elmore; and numerous cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Foy Wells and Mildred Phillyaw Wells; step-father, Wallace Terry; sisters, Ramona Wells and Evelyn Wells; brother, Larry Wells; aunts, Annie Lois, Sudie Johnson, Jewel Hogg, Peggy Philyaw, and Myrtle Elmore; and uncle, Billy Philyaw.

A “THANK YOU” to those who managed her affairs since 2005, Roger Terry, Kathy Jones, Martha Cordell, and Judge Ashley McKathin along with Andalusia Manor nurses and business staff, Dr. Frank Maddox, Ricky Lewis, and CRNP Erica Hawsey.

Dr. William Edward Palmer

Dr. William (Bill) Edward Palmer, 71, of Oneonta, Alabama, passed away on May 7, 2018. The family will host a memorial visitation on Saturday, June 16, from 10-11 a.m. in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church of Andalusia.

Dr. Bill Palmer was a member of the AHS class of 1965, a graduate of the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. He was a dentist in Oneonta for 38 years.

Dr. Palmer is survived by his wife, Diane Mahaffey Palmer; his son, David Palmer, and daughter-in-law, Tina; his granddaughters Kaylee and Hanna Palmer; his brother, Tom Palmer; and his sister, Mary Evelyn Palmer Feibleman. He was preceded in death by his parents William (Billy) L. and Jewell Palmer.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to: Doctor’s Without Borders, Habitat for Humanity or to a charity of your choice.

 

Randy Perry Wright

Mr. Randy Perry Wright, age 70, of Andalusia, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018, at his home. He was the owner of Wright Concrete Construction for the past 49 years.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Claudia Ann Wright of Andalusia; his children, Billy Gene Wright of Atlanta, Michael Lee Wright of Andalusia, Tonya Lenee Wright; two step-children, Jamie Cardwell of Daleville and Brandie Nicole Cardwell of Geneva; and several grandchildren (one of whom he raised, Zachary Cardwell); several great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gleason and Lillie Wright; three brothers, Ronnie, Rickey and Rhett Wright; and his sisters Gail Turner and Charlotte Schalee.
