The Friends of Lake Jackson will host a bird walk at 8 a.m. this Sat., June 2, 2018.
The walk will be held at the Wetlands Park area of the Wiregrass Birding Trail. The site is one of 10 sites in Southeast Alabama on The Wiregrass Birding Trail.
Marsha Hooten, who with John Hooten will lead the walk, said the group will begin in the wetlands area boardwalk, and continue along the sidewalk toward the pier area.
The outing will begin with a brief discussion of the basics of bird watching and identification.
Hooten said she walked the area earlier this week and identified 10 to 12 birds.
“As with all bird outings we have participated in, we often hear more birds than we seek,” she said.
Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars, and to wear insect repellent and sunscreen.
There is no charge for the event.
