LBW offers basic home, farm welding course

Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Opp is offering a Basic Welding for Farm and Home course on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m., June 26 – July 26, 2018. Classes will be held in the Welding Department on the MacArthur Campus.
The goal of this course is to provide students the opportunity to learn basic welding and cutting skills in order to complete minor repair and/or fabrication projects around the farm or home. The course includes instruction in basic MIG welding (GMAW), basic stick welding (SMAW), and basic oxyfuel cutting (OFC). Emphasis will be placed on individual student needs and assisting students in obtaining the desired basic skills that interest them most.
The cost of the course is $295 per participant. Students will need to provide their own personal protective equipment and tools for this course. This includes: welding hood/helmet, safety glasses, welding gloves, cutting goggles, long sleeve shirt or leathers, long pants, leather boots or work shoes, chipping hammer, wire brush, and tape measure.
