GIVING A STRONG EFFORT: PHS Lady Eagles battle through tournament

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles won two games on Saturday in the 2018 Bringing the Heat softball tournament in Andalusia.
GAME ONE
PLEASANT HOME 4, HOUSTON ACADEMY 2
In the first game of the day, the Lady Eagles eliminated Houston Academy from the tournament with a 4-2 victory in the opening round.
Houston Academy went up 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning, but a three-run fourth allowed the Lady Eagles to pull off the victory.
Hope Gunter led the charge for the Lady Eagles, going 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored
Bella Worley finished the game 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Tami Hilson also drove in a run for the Lady Eagles.
Bailey picked up the win with four strikeouts and just one earned run.
GAME TWO
PLEASANT HOME 3, ANDALUSIA 0
The Lady Eagles eliminated the Lady Bulldogs from the tournament with a 3-0 victory in round two.
Both Bailey and Andalusia’s Sydney Arnett grooved through the first three innings.
Pleasant Home struck in the top of the fourth inning when Natalie Schwartz drove in Hope Gunter and Amy Kate Bulger with a two-out double to left field.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Lady Eagles got a two-out single from Bess Worley.
The single from Worley allowed Bulger to score and put the Lady Eagles on top 3-0.
Schwartz finished the game 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Bess Worley finished the game 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Mary Katherine Salter and Millie Manring picked up the only two hits for the Lady Bulldogs.
Bailey struck out seven batters and picked up the win for the Lady Eagles.
GAME THREE
BRANTLEY 9,
PLEASANT HOME 0
The Brantley Lady Bulldogs ended the Lady Eagles tournament run with a 9-0 victory in the third round.
Gunter was the only Pleasant Home batter to pick up a hit in the contest.
