With the 2018 Covington County Relay for Life annual event being today, committee members are hard at work and looking forward to a successful event.
The event will be held at the Andalusia Kiwanis building from 6-10 p.m.
“We have eight teams and after our counts on Bank Night, we have around $50,000 raised,” Relay coordinator Randi Bozeman said.
“Bank Night is when we have all the teams meet and add up all money raised.”
Although most of the count is in, Bozeman said there are still donations coming in they won’t be tallied until just before the ceremony.
“We’re having lots of last minute donations turned in which is very exciting,” she said.
“Some teams haven’t even turned in all of their raised money, so we can factor that in.”
Bozeman said she’s looking forward to the event.
“We have a lot of new stuff going on this year. We’re having an item raffle for a grill that will benefit the Hope Lodge. We’re trying to get more participation in the event,” she said.
“There will be some new live entertainment this year, a scavenger hunt and a passport game that goes along our ‘Relaying Around The World’ theme.”
There’s also tug of war and a Moon Pie eating team competition.
