Yates recognized for demonstrating compassion, unwavering commitment to helping others
Andalusia Health recently announced that Donna Yates has been recognized as the hospital’s 2018 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.
Yates has diligently served Andalusia Health for 22 years in various roles within Health Information Management. Her involvement with Andalusia Health started prior to her employment, as she served as a volunteer during her junior and senior years in high school. Initially as a coder and eventually coding supervisor, Yates continuously proved herself and demonstrated her loyalty to Andalusia Health and her profession.
Her co-workers said her engaging personality, friendly smile coupled with her professionalism and expertise consistently earn her the respect of her peers and the medical staff. She consistently puts the needs of the organization before her own personal desires. The unwavering loyalty, her commitment to learning and personal development resulted in her promotion to Health Information Management Director in January 2018.
“At Andalusia Health, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees both on and off the job,” said John C. Yanes, CEO of Andalusia Health. “We are extremely proud to recognize Donna Yates for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”
Each hospital winner, including Yates, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2018 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced this summer and will be honored at a special celebration in Nashville, Tenn., in August, along with all other hospital winners.
