SAINTS POWER TO VICTORY: LBWCC rallies past Coastal Alabama South

The LBWCC Saints used timely hits to knock off Coastal Alabama South 5-2 on Thursday afternoon in Andalusia.
Chapman Dean got the start on the mound and plunked the first batter he faced.
The next Coastal South batter singled to drive in the first run of the game.
Coastal South went up 2-0 after an error by the Saints.
Dean escaped more damage when he got the next batter to ground into a 1-6-3 double play.
Ko Powell singled to start the bottom of the first inning and then moved to third on a single from Bryson Gandy.
However, a double play ended the Saints’ half of the first inning.
On the mound in the top of the second inning, Dean got a pop fly and line drive out to start the frame.
Dean then sat down the third batter with a strikeout.
Coastal South got a pair of two-out singles in the top of the third, but Dean kept them off the board.
Casey Henderson reached first with a one-out single in the bottom of the third inning and then moved to second when Jackson Henderson reached on a two-out error.
The Coastal South shortstop then made an acrobatic catch in shallow left field to end the inning.
Chauncey Callier singled to start the bottom of the fourth inning.
Jessie Hall then put the Saints on the board with a run-scoring double.
The Saints then tied the game when Walker Messer drove a ball into the left field corner.
Dean was picking up steam on the mound as he sat down the Coastal South batters in order in the top of the fifth inning.
Dean struck out the first batter and then got the next two batters to fly out.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Powell dropped down a picture perfect bunt to reach first safely.
J. Henderson moved Powell to second base with a sacrifice bunt.
The Saints then took the lead when Callier drove in Powell with a single to left field.
Matt Christian followed with a hard-hit ball to third base that caused an error from the Coastal South defense.
Callier came in to score to put the Saints on top 4-2.
The Saints continued to add to their lead when Hall scorched a double over the head of the Coastal South left fielder.
Christian came around to score to put the Saints up 5-2.
In the top of the sixth inning, Dean got the first batter to ground out, struck out the second batter and got another ground out from the third batter to keep the Saints out front.
Heading into the final frame Dean stayed on the mound for the Saints.
Dean walked the first batter in the top of the seventh inning before getting a ground ball for a fielder’s choice.
The Saints ended the game when the next batter hit a sharp ground ball to Hall at shortstop.
Hall scooped up the ball tagged second and then fired to Christian at first for the game-ending double play.
Hall finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored.
Dean picked up the win for the Saints.
