Janie Bush of Dozier got an extra special birthday present Thursday.

Hers was the first name drawn as a winner of a $2,500 bill credit, which she estimates will cover her power bill for about a year.

Dewanna Henderson of Andalusia and Vanessa Jones of Elba also were winners of a $2,500 bill credit.

CEC President and General Manager Ed Short said the cooperative traditionally has given away a vehicle at its annual meeting, but changed this year because member surveys showed members would prefer winning cash over a chance at a vehicle.

The cooperative also awarded prizes of $600 cash; $500 cash; and $400 cash. Each CEC member who registers at the meeting will receive a $15 bill credit, a LED flashlight, and two LED light bulbs.
