The Andalusia Bulldogs blew out the Opp Bobcats 10-1 in Tuesday’s rubber match in Opp.
In the top of the first inning, Garrett Davis ripped a single to give the Bulldogs’ their first base runner of the game.
Davis moved to second when Hogan Nichols drew a walk.
On the hill for Opp, Brett James worked around the two one-out base runners by striking out the following two batters.
Jacob Cravey got the start on the mound for the Bulldogs and gave up a single to Spurlin Kelley to start the bottom of the first inning.
Cravey looked like he might have been in trouble after walking Lane Worley with no outs.
Cravey eased the pain by striking out Kody Richburg and then picking off Kelley at second base for the second out.
It was a good thing Cravey got the pick off at second base because Ethan Baker followed with a two-out single that would have easily scored the run from second.
Cravey escaped the inning with a fly ball to right field for the final out.
The Bobcats ran into trouble in the top of the second inning when James plunked two Bulldog batters and walked another, but Andalusia couldn’t capitalize on the miscues.
In the top of the third inning, more hit batters and walks helped the Bulldogs grab the lead.
Chip Morgan drew a two-out walk and then came around to score on a single from Cravey.
The Bulldogs added to their lead in the top of the fourth inning.
Gill Morgan drew a walk to open the frame and then came around to score with ease when Ethan Wilson belted a triple.
Wilson then came around to score when Nichols lifted a sacrifice fly ball to center field.
Cravey ran into more trouble on the mound as neither pitcher could get a solid grasp on the strike zone.
While the walks came back to bite Opp, Cravey parlayed them into three double play balls that helped the Bulldogs maintain the lead.
The Bulldogs blew the game wide open in the top of the fifth inning.
C. Morgan got the frame started with a double.
J.W. Jones followed with a walk and then Ayden Amis loaded up the bases with a single.
The Bulldogs then scored a pair of runs off of a bases-loaded walks.
Opp got their only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning when Richburg scored on a single from Dylan Grider.
Cravey picked up the win for the Bulldogs after giving up just one run in six innings of work.
