LADY SAINTS START ROLLING: Shutout propels win over Chattahoochee Valley

The LBWCC Lady Saints picked up their second-straight win as they knocked off Chattahoochee Valley Community College 8-0 on Thursday in Andalusia.
Alexis Wyatt got the start for the Lady Saints in the pitcher’s circle and came away with a solid performance.
In the top of the first inning, Wyatt worked around a leadoff walk and one-out single to keep CVCC off the board in the opening frame.
Jessica Dickson reached off of an error to get things started for the Lady Saints in the bottom of the first inning.
Summer Simmons followed with a single to moved Dickson to second.
The Lady Saints got on the board when Katy Cotton ripped a double to center field to score Dickson and Simmons.
At the end of the first inning, the Lady Saints were on top 2-0.
Wyatt retired the first two batters in the top of the second inning before an error gave CVCC a two-out base runner.
The Saints had a pair of runners reach base off of errors in the bottom of the second inning, but were unable to add to their lead.
In the top of the third inning, Wyatt retired the CVCC batters in order.
Dickson led off the bottom of the second inning with a single to right field.
Dickson then moved around to third after Cotton and Natalie Aplin drew walks.
Lindsey Fox followed with a scorching ground ball that caused the CVCC second baseman to commit an error.
Dickson came around to score on the error and the Lady Saints still had the bases loaded.
Betsy Powell then cleared the ducks off the pond when she laced a triple center field.
Katelynn Shiver followed with a double that scored Powell to put the Lady Saints on top 7-0.
Wyatt then tacked on the final run of the game when she drove in Shiver with a double to center field.
At the end of the third inning, the Lady Saints held an 8-0 lead.
In the pitcher’s circle, Wyatt continued to gain momentum as she retired the side in order in the top of the fourth inning.
The Lady Saints held off CVCC in the final inning to pick up the 8-0 victory.
Powell finished the game 1-for-2 with three RBIs and one run scored.
Cotton went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and one run scored.
Dickson finished the game 1-for-2 with two runs scored.
