Students in the Andalusia City School system will start school on Mon., Aug. 6, 2018.
The board of education approved the 2018-19 calendar Monday.
Holidays include:
• Aug. 1 – School starts for teachers
• Aug. 6 – School starts for students
• Sept. 3 – Labor Day holiday
• Sept. 24 – Early release day
• Oct. 8 – Columbus Day
• Nov. 12 – Veterans Day holiday
• Nov. 19-23 – Thanksgiving holidays
• Dec. 20 – Jan. 2 – Christmas holidays
• Jan. 3-4  – Teacher inservice days
• Jan. 7 – Students return
• Jan 21 – King/Lee Holiday
• Feb. 18 – President’s Day holiday
• March 25 – 29 – Spring Break
• April 18 – Early release day
• April 19 – Good Friday
• May 23 – Last day for students
• May 24 – Last day for teachers
Teachers were given three proposed calendars from which to choose. The option chosen by the board was preferred by 80 percent of the teachers who voted.
