VELINDA DIANE  (LULU) LUNSFORD

Ms. Velinda Diane (Lulu) Lunsford, age 57, of Florala (formerly of Rose Hill), passed away Tues., March 6, 2018, at her residence.  She loved hunting Easter eggs and getting (Big One) teddy bears and t-shirts.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters:  Bruce (Karen) Lunsford of Dozier, Larry D. Lunsford of Florala, Teddy (Everetta) Lunsford of Heath, Judy (Tom) Jones of Florala, Marta (Bobby) Godwin of Luverne, Sherry (Kenny) Merrill of Gantt, Terry (Diane) Mears of Brantley, and Perry (Kimberlynn) Mears of Dozier.

Funeral services were Fri., March 9, 2018, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel of Andalusia with Rev. Gary Holloway officiating.  Interment will follow at Goodnews Chapel Cemetery in Rose Hill.  Serving as pallbearers:  Bobby Godwin, Tom Jones, Zack Lunsford, Kenny Merrill, Kevin Lunsford, Mike Lunsford and Brandon Jeter.

The family will received friends one hour prior to funeral services at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel on Fri., March 9, 2018.

NORMA EVERS SIKES

Norma Evers Sikes, formerly of Andalusia, Ala., died at her home in Tuscaloosa on March 6. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Griffin Sikes. She is survived by their six children: Griff Sikes, Jr. his wife Ann, and their daughter Claire; Margaret Sikes Land, her husband, Bob Land, and their children Carolyn Williams, Ben Land, his wife Claire, and John Land, along with partner Luke Gregory; Nancy Sikes Dillard, her husband Joel Dillard, their children Clay Dillard, his wife Lindsay, daughter Miriam Dillard Stroud, her husband Rich Stroud; Anne Sikes Hornsby, her husband Joe Hornsby; Steve Sikes, his wife Lucy Arnold-Sikes, and children Harper and Evers; and Clay Sikes, along with Sharon St. John. She also took great joy in her six great-grandchildren.

Norma was born in Opp, Ala., in 1925, to L.H. Evers and Margaret Danley. She attended the University of Alabama and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She graduated in 1947 and returned to Andalusia to manage her late father’s furniture stores. In 1947, she married Griffin Sikes and continued in that career until the birth of their first child in 1949.

Norma was a member of various charitable and civic organizations in Andalusia, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Andalusia until she and Griffin moved in 2005 to Capstone in Tuscaloosa in order to be closer to their children.

The family expresses special gratitude to Tracey Cameron and Godha King for their loving care of Mrs. Sikes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sikes were at First Methodist Church in Andalusia on Friday, March 9, followed by a graveside service. There will be a reception in Tuscaloosa at Capstone Village at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 11.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of West Alabama, the First Methodist Church of Andalusia, or the charity of one’s choice.
