A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Tekevious Darnell Best, which occurred in front of the Huddle House in Florala around noon on Sunday.
“Phillip George Parker, of Florala, shot and killed Best in an apparent argument over visitation issues with the victim’s children,” Florala Police Chief Sonny Bedsole said.
The children were not present at the time of the incident.
Eye witnesses were able to identify Parker, who fled the scene following the incident. The Florala Police Department issued a Be on the Lookout alert for area residents, and Parker was taken into custody by Walton Florida Deputies.
He is currently being held in the Walton County jail on a $750,000 bond, awaiting extradition back to Florala.
The case is being investigated by the Florala Police Department and Alabama’s State Bureau of Investigation with the Covington County Sheriff’s Department, Opp Police Department and Walton County Sheriff’s Department assisting.
