Area residents are searching for former Andalusia resident Sylvia Hemphill, who has been missing since Saturday morning.
Jennifer Tolbert, who is Hemphill’s sister, said Hemphill had been living in Florala with a niece recently, was last seen on AlaFlow Road in the Flat Creek Community outside of Samson. A missing person report has been filed in Geneva County.
Hemphill, who is 42, is 5’4 and of medium build with medium-length blonde hair. Tolbert said she had lived with her significant other and their children for many years in North Carolina, but recently returned home.
“From what we know, she went missing around sunrise Saturday morning,” Tolbert said.
She was last seen wearing black leggings, a tank top and lip flops. She has a colorful butterfly tattoo on the back of her shoulder and one on her ankle. She is not believed to have any identification, money, or a cell phone with her.
Anyone with information about her or her whereabouts is asked to call Investigator Cory Dean at 334-684-5660; Tolbert at 334-343-7954; or Anna Donaldson at 334-343-8885.
