Around 10 Friday night, Florala police officers received a call from E911 of a silver Chevrolet pickup coming into Florala north bound on Hwy. 331 from Florida.
The vehicle made it into Florala, subsequently turning east on AL Hwy. 54 where it was intercepted. When the FPD officer activated blue lights, the suspect vehicle fled, reaching speeds of 90 mph and driving on the wrong side of the road in curves at times.
After a pursuit of close to 3 miles, the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and overturning several times. The driver was believed to be intoxicated.
The driver was subsequently airlifted from the scene in critical condition.
No other motorist or officers was injured.
The case is being investigated by Alabama State Troopers who were in the Florala area.
