The Opp Bobcats earned a spot in the Class 3A, Area 3 championship game after knocking off the Straughn Tigers 59-49.

Both teams came out strong and neither was going to go down easily.

The score was close throughout the entire game and came down to strong finish by the Bobcats.

Erik Matthews led the Bobcats with 14 points.

Ethan Baker came in with 11 points.

Javontae Crittenden and Bryan Matthews finished the game with 10 points each for the Bobcats.

For Straughn, Justin Peeples led the way with 15 points.

Trent Cleland tacked on 12 points for the Tigers.

With the win, the Bobcats advance to the area championship for the first time since 1992.

The Bobcats will take on Geneva tonight at 7 p.m., in the Area 3 championship in Geneva.
