The W.S. Harlan Elementary School Spelling Bee took place on Tues., Jan. 23, 2018, in the Joann Welch Geohagan Auditorium, and, after many rounds of competition, fifth grader Callie Pybus emerged the winner. Spelling spinster and diagram correctly in the final round, Callie won, with fourth grader Ellie Odom and sixth grader Jesse Ellisor finishing second and third, respectively. Callie, right, is the daughter of Jeffery and Jennifer Pybus of Lockhart.
