OCAP offers help with heating bills

Temperatures have been extremely cold this week, which may leave some locals in a pinch on how to fund their utility bills.
Liz Seay, of Organized Community Action Program, said this week that the organization will begin taking call-in appointments for the regular LIHEAP heating program on Mon., Jan. 22, at 8 a.m.
“Appointments are made on a first come, first serve basis until all appointments are issued,” she said.
Seay said it’s important to remember that only one appointment per telephone call will be scheduled.
“The utility bill must be in your name. Total household income and original Social Security cards and current picture ID will be required to make application,” she said.
Seay said they have the opportunity to help a lot of people with the program each year.
No walk-ins will be taken.
