In the final game of the evening the Eagles got a pair of free throws from Robert Scott in the final seconds of the game to give Pleasant Home a 54-53 victory.
“From about the two and half minute mark until the last 50 seconds, it wasn’t pretty,” Pleasant Home head coach Troy Turman said. “In the last 50 seconds, we overcame a lot and the guys never quit. The last two timeouts they really listened to what we told them. The is the first time this season that we have faced adversity at the end and didn’t fold. That’s a good sign and good team win. I’m really proud of the great team effort.”
In the fourth period, the Eagles started strong and went up 50-40 with just over two minutes left in the game.
Luverne charged back and went up 53-50 with 30 seconds left on the clock.
Austin Kelley got a bucket with 18 seconds left to trim the deficit to one point.
The Eagles got the ball back and Scott was fouled with four seconds on the clock.
Scott knocked down both free throws and the Eagles’ defense didn’t allow Luverne a shot in the final seconds.
Scott led the Eagles with 17 points.
Pleasant Home will take on Georgiana tonight at 7:30 p.m., in the championship.
