Bulldogs finish tourney strong

The Andalusia Bulldogs turned some heads around the state after going 2-1 during Hoover’s Big Orange Classic in Birmingham.

HOOVER 60,

ANDALUSIA 39

In the opening game of the day, the Class 7A No. 3-ranked Bucs showed why they are a powerhouse as the blew past the Bulldogs for a 60-39 victory.

Hoover jumped out front in the opening period and held a 17-4 lead at the end of the first.

R.J. Drish and Trey Wilkerson each had two points in the opening frame.

Hoover continued to surge and went up 36-16 at halftime.

The Bulldogs continued to fight, but couldn’t close the gap as Hoover led 49-29 going into the final frame.

Drish led the Bulldogs with 12 points.

ANDALUSIA 60,

GUNTERSVILLE 52

In the Bulldogs’ final game of the Big Orange Classic, Andalusia fought off Guntersville for a 60-52 victory.

Drish started the game on fire with three 3-pointers that helped put the Bulldogs up 19-13 at the end of the first.

At halftime, Andalusia was on top 30-27.

Guntersville clawed back in the third period and tied the game 41-41 heading into the fourth.

Keaun Samuel had eight points including going 4-for-4 in the fourth period  from the free-throw line to help the Bulldogs to a 60-52 win.

Drish led the Bulldogs with 22 points.
