Poarch Creeks to celebrate 47th annual Pow Wow

The 47th annual Poarch Creek Indian Thanksgiving Pow Wow is this week
Held on Nov. 23-24 at the reservation on Jack Springs Road in Atmore, the annual event features dancing, drumming contest, a Princess contest, a singing contest and more. There will be more than $92,000 in prize money given away in the drum and singer contests.
Grand entry on Nov. 23 will be at 1 p.m., and at noon on Nov. 24.
The Poarch Creek Princess contest will start approximately at 11:30 a.m. on the mound.
General Admission for adults ages 11 and up is $5; children ages 10 and under are free.
Gates open at 10 a.m. No pets, drugs, alcohol, weapons or ice chests are allowed. Vendor spacing is available.
A 5K Turkey Trot is set for 7 until 9 a.m., beginning at the Buford L. Rolin Health Department.
