The No. 1-ranked Andalusia Bulldogs look to continue their quest to a state championship as they head to Montgomery on Friday to take on the Alabama Christian Academy Eagles in the third round of the Class 4A state playoffs.
Alabama Christian with wins over Northside and W.S. Neal in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
Alabama Christian is 0-2 at home in the quarterfinals.
Andalusia is 2-2 all-time on the road in the quarterfinals.
The Bulldogs have defeated Childersburg and St. James in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
Andalusia and Alabama Christian have played three common opponents this season (Trinity, St. James and W.S Neal).
Andalusia defeated Trinity 31-14. Alabama Christian beat Trinity 35-21.
Andalusia defeated St. James 30-8. Alabama Christian lost 49-14 to St. James. Alabama Christian played that game without their starting quarterback.
Andalusia defeated W.S. Neal 52-28.
Alabama Christian defeated W.S. Neal 38-7 last week in the second round of the playoffs.
The Bulldogs come into the game with 466 points on the season and have allowed 189 points (56 of those points came in a week-one loss to Class 6A Shades Valley). Andalusia is 21 points away from tying the school record for points in a season. The Bulldogs set the record at 487 in 2016.
Alabama Christian has scored a school-record 413 points this season and given up 238 points.
This will be the sixth meeting between Andalusia and Alabama Christian.
The Bulldogs currently hold a 5-0 lead against the Eagles, including a 42-24 victory last season in the first round of the playoffs.
