The Red Level Lady Tigers have some experience under their belt as they look to kick off the 2017-18 high school basketball season.
“Our goal is the same every season,” Lady Tigers head coach Allen Catrett said. “We want to compete in well in area and try to finish in the top two.”
This season, Catrett said that he has girls playing on the team.
“Our biggest thing this year is that we are going to have more depth,” Catrett said. “We lost one senior last year, and we don’t have any seniors this year. Our team will consist of three juniors, two sophomores, three freshman, two seventh eighth graders and three seventh graders. With the added depth, we shouldn’t get as tired later in the games.”
So far at practice, Catrett said he has really been pleased with what he has seen.
“We have had a lot of energy at practice,” Catrett said. “I’m seeing a lot of good things out of them. They have picked up their game since last year and have been attacking the basket.”
Catrett said that the girls really have continued to work hard to improve.
“There has been a lot of development from these girls,” Catrett said. “I’ve been coaching most of these girls since junior high and I’ve really seen them develop and progress as basketball players.”
With that progression, has brought a sense of confidence to the players, Catrett said.
“One thing we have going for us is that we have aggressive girls that get after it,” Catrett said. “They aren’t just being passive and sitting back. Potentially, we also have the chance to bring every one back after this year.”
Catrett said that the team will just take things one game at a time.
“We have to prepare for everything,” Catrett said. “Just focus on improving every aspect of our game one game at a time.”
