Terry Craig has announced his plans to seek the Republican nomination for sheriff in 2018.
Craig is a native of Covington County who has owned and operated a plumbing and electrical business in Andalusia for more than 39 years.
“I have experience in management as well as administration,” he said in an announcement. “I have studied criminal law for the last three years.”
Craig said he pursued the classes online.
“My goal is to cut unnecessary costs and expenses,” he said. “I will utilize those funds to provide more manpower. Security needs to be increased at the jail in order to decrease the amount of contraband entering in.”
He said he also supports more drug education for the school systems.
“One of my main goals will be to significantly reduce drugs in Covington County. I believe in a transparent and honest relationship. I will have an open door policy.”
Craig said if elected, his contact information will be public for all citizens.
He and his wife, the former Julie Bullard, have two sons and two grandchildren, and are members of New Home Congregational Church.
