PHS clinches South Region title

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles were on fire the past two days as they steam rolled their way to a Class 1A South Regional volleyball championship on Friday in Montgomery
In the opening match, the Lady Eagles swept Maplesville 3-0 to advance to the second round.
The Lady Eagles continued the strong start with an imposing 3-0 victory over Ragland to move into the 1A semifinal round against Sumiton Christian.
Pleasant Home opened up with a 25-13 victory over Ragland in the first set. The Lady Eagles took the second set 25-15 and completed the sweep with another 25-15 win.
In the semifinals, the Lady Eagles made quick work of Sumiton Christian with another 3-0 sweep.
The Lady Eagles started in dominate fashion as they rolled to a 25-10 victory in the first set.
In the second set, the Lady Eagles pulled out a 25-12 win before finishing off the sweep with a 25-10 victory.
The Lady Eagles fought their way back in the championship match against Isabella to claim to South championship.
In the first set, both teams went back-and-forth before Isabella came away with a 25-22 win.
The Lady Eagles responded with a two-straight 25-18 wins to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
With their back against the wall, Isabella pulled off a 25-20 victory to force a winner-take-all game five.
It was a tightly contested battle, but the Lady Eagles came away with a 15-13 victory.
With the win, the Lady Eagles will be the South’s No. 1 seed heading into next week’s state tournament in Birmingham.
