The Straughn Tigers put up a fight, but fell 14-0 to Geneva on Friday night in Straughn in Class 3A, Region 2 action.
“We got inside the red zone three times, but just couldn’t score,” Straughn head coach John Higgins said. “Right now, we just can’t get in the end zone.”
Geneva drove down the field on the opening drive and got in the end zone to take and early lead.
“After that opening drive, our defense shut them down,” Higgins said. “I was proud of the way that we played on defense, we just have to be able to get in the end zone.”
Cade Courson had a fake punt that he converted for a first down on a 50-yard run.
“This was probably the best game that we have played all season,” Higgins said. “The boys are playing hard. It’s my job to put us in situations that we can be successful. I’m proud of these kids. The future is bright at Straughn. These seniors play really hard and we are going to do our best to play for them these last three weeks. We are going to be O.K.”
The Tigers are on the road at Houston Academy next week.
