Andalusia’s Isshinryu Karate’s Kila Owens had a strong performance recently in the Battle of the South karate tournament in Picayune, Miss.

Owens, a senior at Straughn High School,  took home first place in the Youth Black Belt kata and Youth Black Belt weapons.

In the women’s division, Owens picked up first play in Black Belt fighting.

In the overall competition against men and women, Owens came away with a second place finish adult Black Belt weapons.

Owens is a student of Mark Rudd’s at Andalusia Isshinryu Karate.
