Area campgrounds are seeing an increase in business as campers try to fit in one last trip before the end of summer.
“We are always substantially busier during holiday weekends,” said Lake Jackson Park Manager Wade Masters. “We have had a really busy season, already. The ten percent military and senior discount we are now providing Monday through Thursday has helped a lot with that.”
Lake Jackson is completely booked through the holiday weekend.
Lake Frank Jackson State Park also has no vacancies available.
“We have had a very good season,” said Lake Frank employee Shelby Scott. “It’s not usually quite this busy, but unless someone cancels, we are completely full for Labor Day weekend.”
Cypress Landing RV Park in Dozier still has 18 openings available, and it is holding a concert on Saturday along with a cookout for the Labor Day weekend campers.
“We are selling whole Boston butts for $35 in the afternoon, and the Country Rhythm and Blues Band will be playing Saturday night as a treat for our guests,” park manager Wayne Gatlin said. “We would love to get everyone out here for the activities.”
It is an $8 cover for the concert.
Point A Park in Andalusia still has 20 slots available, also.
“We have had a pretty good year overall,” said manager Eric Johnson. “It’s a nice, relaxing view and a good place to be for the weekend.”
Point A Park has recently been working on some upgrades to maximize the overall experience the campers get, including a bigger playground and renovations to the facilities inside the park.
