New improvements have been made to Frank Jackson State Park this month and even more are expected in the near future.
Beverly Bell-Barber, spokesperson for the Frank Jackson Trail Masters, said Thursday that contractors have installed a new septic system for a new restroom facility that will be constructed near the playground area of the state park.
“This facility was identified as a needed addition to the park in recent months and the state park system was able to allocate funds to address this issue,” she said. “The construction of the building to house the restrooms is expected to be bid in the near future.”
Additionally, the wooden walkway that extends from the campground lower level to the covered picnic pavilion at the upper level of the campground is in the process of being upgraded.
“All exposed wood on this 100-foot long walkway will be replaced to better provide a safer and more attractive access between these heavy utilized facilities,” she said.
Park employee Gerald Edgar has been working on the upgrades to the walkways.
“Mr. Edgar is one of the valuable employees of the park and possesses many skills necessary to accomplish a multitude of park tasks,” she said.
