County BOE makes end-of-year personnel changes

The Covington County Board of Education on Tuesday addressed end of the year personnel issues.
The board accepted the following resignations:
- Louis Paul Cox as maintenance worker at central office.
- Jessica Lynn McCarty as collaborative special education teacher at Fleeta.
- Jessica Diane Byrd as English Language Arts teacher at Florala High School.
- Amanda Hawthorne Martin as English teacher at Florala High School.
- Rhea Yarbrough Golden as special education teacher at Florala High School.
- Jamie F. Kelley as elementary teacher at Pleasant Home School.
- Kimberly Byrd as elementary teacher at Pleasant Home School.
- Christopher Lawrence Mason as social science teacher and head football coach at Pleasant Home.
- Kerry Bennett Alexander as elementary teacher at Red Level Elementary School.
- Melissa Anne Jones as intervention teacher at Straughn Elementary School. This was a grant position, and it is unknown if the system will receive funding for the job.
- Christian Tyler Coe as paraprofessional at Straughn Elementary School.
- Jonathan R. Sumner as social science teacher at Straughn High School.
- Allison M. Farrington as science teacher at Straughn High School.
- Jerry Merrill as bus mechanic at central office.
The board transferred:
- Alison Jeffcoat Eubanks from reading coach at Fleeta Junior High to elementary teacher at Straughn Elementary.
- Lori Miller Kinsaul from science teacher at Straughn Middle to science teacher at Straughn High School.
The board hired:
- John Kaleb Powell as special education teacher at Florala High School.
- Tracie Hollinghead as bus driver at Straughn High School.
- Felicia June Ganous as bus driver at Straughn High School.
- Jarrod Wooten as general social science teacher/defensive coordinator at Straughn High School. Wooten is coming to the system from Beulah.
The board non-renewed the contracts of:
- Mark Price, paraprofessional at Red Level Elementary School.
- Robert Macon Chandler as physical education teacher at W.S. Harlan Elementary School.
